Our History
- The Rewardsco Group was founded in July 1996.
- The founding company, Rewardsco Investments, was established as an outsource provider of rewards programme services and proprietor of its investment portfolio.
- In 2008, Rewardsco Investments increased its investment in strategic innovation to diversify revenue streams, generate recurring income and mitigate operating risks.
- The Group’s considerable investment in human and financial capital has laid the foundations for exponential growth in South Africa and international markets.
- In 2020, Rewardsco Investments partnered with Khula Capital, a private equity fund that provides financial assistance to black-owned businesses – helping to grow, innovate and create a brighter future for South Africans.
Our Team

MICHAEL STEENFELDT-KRISTENSEN
Executive Chairman
Michael founded Rewardsco Group in July 1996 and has served as the Executive Chairman since its formation. Michael has driven the development of Rewardsco Group from a start-up company to the entrepreneurial and formidable business that it is today. Previously, Michael served in the banking industry where he headed up the Asia Region for the National Australia Bank/Bank of New Zealand Group. Prior to this, Michael served as Group Treasurer for the Barclays/First National Bank Group in South Africa where he steered the group to a dominant position in the financial markets.

SVEN STEENFELDT-KRISTENSEN
Managing Director
Sven joined Rewardsco Group as an Executive Director in April 2005. Sven plays an instrumental role in defining the Group’s strategic direction to unlock value for all stakeholders. He currently serves as the Managing Director of Rewardsco Investments and sits on the Group Investment Committee. Sven has a background in investments, technology and business development, having prior to this obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree in New Zealand.

TREVOR KOEN
Group Managing Director
Trevor co-founded the Rewardsco Group in 1996 and is instrumental in its ongoing strategic development. He leads Rewardsco Sales, the Group’s Sales and Distribution business, in addition to serving on the Group Investment Committee. Trevor has an entrepreneurial background, having previously owned and managed a chain of retail stores and an importing/distribution business.

DYLAN KOEN
Group Commercial Director
Dylan joined Rewardsco in 1999 and was appointed to the role of Executive Director in 2010. He currently serves as the Group Commercial Director with a focus on innovation, business growth and diversification into new markets. Dylan has studied at Wits Business School obtaining both a MAP and MBA.

FATHIMA DILDAR
Executive Director – Group Corporate Governance
Fathima joined Rewardsco in June 2019 and serves as the Group Corporate Governance Director and Company Secretary. As an admitted attorney, notary public and conveyancer, Fathima is a key figure in mitigating business risk and proactively addressing legal compliance issues. She holds a Masters in Social Justice, a B-LLB from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a qualification in Corporate Governance from the University of South Africa. She previously served as a Commercial, Mergers and Acquisitions attorney at Norton Rose Fulbright and a Market Conduct, Risk and Compliance Specialist within the finance industry.

SHAUN ROBERT
Group Financial Director
Shaun joined Rewardsco as the Group Financial Director in 2023. He plays a key role in strategic Group initiatives and heads up the overall financial functions of the Group. Shaun serves on the Group Investment Committee driving the financial strategy with his diverse expertise in business insights development, integrated business planning, strategy development and execution and related business structuring, underpinned by a strong foundation in financial accounting, governance and internal controls.
Shaun previously served as the Group Operations Finance Head at Illovo Sugar Africa. He has an Honours Degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.
